  • Assignment: Summer Conference Registration is OPEN!

Assignment: Summer Conference Registration is OPEN!

    May 31, 2025

It’s the most wonderful time of year: Summer Conference Sign Up Season ™

Some highlights and info for you to celebrate the season most effectively:

Here is the link to REGISTER for SC2025 https://web.cvent.com/event/612e2b29-0682-4251-9d61-20d6c71b1f62/summary

PLEASE REGISTER ASAP, it helps us to get the staff housing set as early as possible!  If you have never been to the Summer Conference, please consider coming—it’s a unique experience and will serve as important preparation for the fights ahead.

Speakers- This year we are featuring three excellent speakers-- in fact one staff member told us the line up was so good as to be “outrageous.” Sunday’s opening session will feature Dr. Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor with a group of our members who have decided to respond Now More Than Ever to our current social and political climate; an evening talk with Dr. Cornel West hosted at the Annual Human and Civil Rights Award AND the conference will be closed by the Working Families Party Executive Director, Maurice Mitchell.

What does Summer Conference cost our members? Summer Conference programming, including all workshops and social events, is free for all members who register by July 10. For members who would like to stay overnight in campus dorms, the price is $130/night per person for up to three nights and includes meals from the award-winning UMass Dining. Commuters can attend the conference for free and purchase meals at the Dining Commons or Blue Wall food court. Participants in the New Members Program, New Presidents Academy and Next Generation Leadership Program receive free room and board. Scholarships also are available to provide room and board for Education Support Professionals and Adjunct Faculty who wish to attend.  NOTE: UMASS charges the late fee for registration after 7/10 including for any staff so PLEASE get yourself and your members registered before that—there are no exceptions to the fee and it’s a big waste of resources.

Like last year, registration is 2 steps: CVENT(our system for workshop and event registration) and IRIS (UMASS registration.)  Unlike last year, only people staying in the dorm need to register with IRIS.  This is a much more streamlined process!

Notable programs include: (see attached flyers or check out https://massteacher.org/summer and an overview flyer can be found here. Every office has hard copies of these flyers, but email events@massteacher.org for additional copies )

New Next Gen Programing!  Including new sessions for returning Next Genners and Presidents!
    New Members!
    New Presidents Academy!
    Bargaining Certificate Programs!
    Anti-Oppression Programming!
    Workshop overview!
    Higher Ed Day!
    A **NEW** Community Schools Day!
    As always, excellent PD/PDPs

Also new this year is a member Art Show! Encourage your members to showcase their visual or performance skills! (Flyer attached)

The fun this year will include a drag show/Ballroom Showcase, trivia nights, open hangout in the UPub, karaoke and dance party, film screening, Zumba/Yoga/Pickleball, a scavenger hunt and more!  There will also be a lot of opportunities for connection including affinity spaces; game rooms in the dorm; long lunch breaks; and more!

If you have questions email events@massteacher.org and we’ll help you out! https://classroom.google.com/c/NjEzMzUzMjExNzIz/a/NzY1OTc3MDM3Mzcy/details
